Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2028, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jun 2016

(no new oak): Bright lemon-yellow color. Ripe aromas of mandarin orange, flowers, menthol and wet stone, plus an element of smoky oak. Round, ripe and fairly full on the palate, with enticing peach and orange flavors given definition and thrust by strong but harmonious acidity. With its crushed-rock minerality and youthful tightness, there's nothing particularly easy about this wine today. But it has the stuffing and structure to evolve gracefully.

This has all the aromas I associate with this appellation – the fruit having a light orange quality and then a creamy mealy layer. Dry and tighter on the palate than I expected – not lean but with a sweet/sour intensity more than sustained depths. Lively, crisp and a good appetite whetter. (JH)

The 2014 Meursault Les Clousots has a crisp, stony, Chablis-like bouquet with hints of chalk dust and blackberry leaf. I like the definition and the nuance here. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with real salinity here that cleanses the mouth. Moderate weight, again Chablis-like towards the finish--this is a beautifully crafted Meursault punching at premier cru levels.

Pale, bright lemon-yellow. Pure, lifted aromas of musky peach, fresh herbs and flowers. Smooth and fine-grained on entry, then nicely concentrated in the middle palate, offering moderately complex flavors of peach and apricot and a touch of saline minerality. Doesn't show quite the balance of the Tillets as there's still some spiky acidity to be absorbed but this wine possesses a firm structure for the year.
