Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2015

Tasted from magnum, the 2013 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine de Montille has a rather "forced" nose that does not possess the natural, refined personality of some of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with good density, but it feels more of a winemaking Clos Vougeot than a Burgundy from one of its most historic vineyards. Chewy on the lightly spiced finish, perhaps it will improve in bottle and lose that burliness.

Bright, deep red. Medicinal cherry, wild herbs, licorice and a whiff of menthol on the nose: very Clos Vougeot. Juicy and intense but quite tight in the early going, hiding its personality today. Showed a creamier middle and rather suave tannins with aeration but this rather elegantly styled Clos Vougeot will nonetheless require patience.

Punteggio 90-92/100 · Da bere 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2013 Clos Vougeot, which is two-thirds whole-cluster fruit (although you cannot tell one bit on the nose) was raised in 40% new wood. It has a tightly-knit bouquet with brambly black fruit and just a touch of undergrowth coming through with aeration. The palate is smooth and harmonious, a little sinewy at the moment and tightly wound on the finish where I would like to see it develop more delineation once in bottle. This is quite a "burly" Clos de Vougeot with good grip at the moment. Give this three or four year’s bottle age.
