(bottled just prior to my visit; none of the other 2014s were finished): Very pale color. Brisk aromas of lime, fresh apricot, ginger and flowers. Juicy, dry and precise but a bit lean. Finishes pure, with modest length.

The 2014 Chablis Villages from Domaine Billaud-Simon has a more floral bouquet than its peers with peppermint scents subtlety interwoven into the citrus and green apple aromas. The palate is very well balanced with a keen line of acidity. This just feels natural and harmonious, the finish just flowing across the mouth with requisite tension and mineralité for a Chablis. This constitutes an excellent Chablis Village.
This is also quite aromatically restrained but there is so much classic Chablis character present that even blind it could scarcely be mistaken for any other region. The cool, pure and focused middle weight flavors possess an almost pungent minerality along with a clean, markedly dry, balanced and beautifully persistent finish. This is a terrific example for its level and would make a fine choice for an all-around, as well as age-worthy, house white. Oct 2015, www.burghound.com, Drink 2019+
