Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains has a vibrant bouquet with yellow plum and lemon peel aromas that are very well defined, having awoken from its "Zen-like" state last year. There is a very pleasant edginess here and great focus. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, satisfying weight in the mouth, a slight waxiness to the texture with a harmonious and linear finish. This is a lovely, well-crafted Chablis from Laurent Tribut. Tasted May 2016.

Pale yellow. Aromas of orange marmalade, ripe apricot and honey suggest some noble rot. Then rich, silky and voluminous on the middle palate, showing hints of white truffle and earth but also boasting very good energy. Finishes impressively taut, with good mineral lift and verve and slowly mounting length. "Montmains always needs more time," noted Tribut.
Pale yellow. Terrific punch to the high-pitched aromas of pink grapefruit and flowers. Creamy, sappy and round, but with excellent definition and lift to the flavors of grapefruit zest and mint. A fruit bomb today, showing a lovely sugar/acid balance and a piquant aftertaste. Perhaps less complex currently than the Beauroy as this wine finished with 1.5 g/l r.s. I tasted this wine from cuve; it will go into barrel in September for the last six months of its elevage.
