Tasted blind in London, I am so pleased to see how well the 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières showed. It is reminiscent of the late Anne-Claude Leflaive's style of white Burgundy on that nose, grey slate scents permeating the razor-sharp citrus fruit. The palate is extremely well balanced, fresh and nimble on its toes, the acidity perfectly judged with that slate-like mineralité continuing from start to finish. Yes, there is a Puligny-like nervosité that lends energy to this Meursault, but the bottom line is that it is just a delicious, very well-crafted wine from François Mikulski that comes recommended. The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has a lifted bouquet with orange blossom and fresh mint aromas that gain intensity in the glass. The palate is well balanced with plenty of salinity on the entry. There is good weight in the mouth with hints of shaved ginger decorating the long finish. This is a superb Meursault from Mikulski.
