Note di degustazione
The 2014 Phélan-Ségur has a floral, almost Margaux-like nose. Crushed violet infuses the black fruit, while cedar and brown spices come through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with angular tannins, fresh and slightly compact with a linear finish. I wonder if this is in a closed phase, as previous bottles have shown better? This is one that I will seek to retaste. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Deepest garnet. Leafy, open Cabernet fruit character. Powerful, chewy, dense and with that same touch of the bitterness that I found on the Cos d'Estournel though less marked here. Thick and powerful. A bit of a bruiser. (JH)
Beautiful texture and grip right from the first moment, showcasing why this is one of the best estates in the appellation. It's a thoroughly St Estephe mix of power, freshness and fruit, with bilberry, cassis and blueberry dominant, clearly a vintage that was ripe but not over-ripe, showcasing eucalyptus and mint edges. Has architecture and chracter, and will age for a good few decades from here. Harvest September 29 to October 14.
