The 2014 d'Armailhac has a high-toned, slightly volatile nose that needs to forage more composure and refinement. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry; maybe it was just picked a little tardy? It just misses the precision and clarity of the best Pauillac. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.
Tasted blind. Dark garnet. Invitingly pure black fruit, still so vibrant and primary. Firmly tannic, structured, powerful but with everything in place for the future still. A touch obdurate now. (JH)
50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot . Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Sweet Cabernet fruit but slightly unformed. Very juicy and a bit simple. Then quite a welter of dry tannins. Not a charmer – at this stage anyway. Just a tad brutal. (JR)
Informazioni sul produttore

Ch. d’Armailhac is a Pauillac Fifth Growth owned by the Rothschilds, who also own Ch. Mouton Rothschild. Lavished with the same attention to detail and having benefitted from extensive investment in recent years, this estate can offer brilliant value in comparison to its First Growth sibling.
