2012 Les Aromes de Pavie

This went down extremely well during the tasting in Macau, accessible and welcoming, with plenty of sandalwood, cedar and blackberry fruit. A sweet spot for drinking, supple tannins with a kick of violet flowers on the finish. Arôme de Pavie was the new name introduced in 2005, replacing Château Tour Simard. 100% new oak for ageing, Jean-Baptiste Pion winemaker, Michel Rolland consultant.

Pavie's second wine, Aromes de Pavie is an attractive, mid-weight wine to drink over the next few years. Plum, dark raspberry, spice and new leather are all effortless in the glass, while floral notes add a touch of finesse on the gracious finish.

The second wine from Pavie, the Aromes de Pavie (70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon) vaguely resembles its bigger sibling. Dense ruby/purple in color, with notes of toasty oak, the wine doesn’t have the power, mid-palate, texture or depth of the Pavie, but it shows good spice, earth, vanillin, and red and black fruits. This medium-bodied wine does have surprising aging potential for a second wine and should evolve for 10-15 years.
