Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2019-2026, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Aug 2019

Bouchard's 2013 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Mousse is showing well, offering up an attractive bouquet of smoky red berries, dried flowers, musk and bergamot. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, delicate and supple, with a pretty core of tangy fruit, powdery and largely melted tannins and a sapid, flavorful finish. This won't make old bones, but it's a charming Beaune 1er Cru from an overlooked vintage that's drinking well today.

Medium bright red. Ripe red fruits and earth on the expressive nose, with hints of leather and tobacco emerging with air. Offers flavors similar to the aromas, but with an herbal peppery quality giving a hint of dryness to the middle palate. This energetic wine relies more on its acidity than on its slightly dusty tannins for structure. Finishes with an attractive light touch.

Smells richer than the Beaune du Château and there's a slight meaty note but lively red fruit dominates. Firm, almost chewy, but the tannins are fine and dry. A step up in depth and length compared with the Beaune du Château. (JH)

Healthy dark red, lighter than the Teurons. Expressive aromas of cassis, black cherry, violet, licorice and oak. Then juicy, tight and dry in the mouth; nicely concentrated but this makes the Teurons seem ripe and round by comparison. Firm acidity gives the wine sharp definition but the solid tannic spine gives the finish a youthful toughness. In a closed stage at the moment and likely to require several years of bottle aging upon its release.
