Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2017-2029, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos has a reduced nose that works well in the sense that it does not obscure the Chablis-like character or indeed, that of Les Clos. The palate is fresh on the entry with lemon peel, sherbet, a touch of white peach and hazelnut. The attenuates slightly towards the finish, but overall this is a commendable les Clos that should give a decade's worth of pleasure. I expect it to meliorate in bottle over the next 2-3 years. Tasted May 2016.

(13.2% natural alcohol): Bright medium yellow. Reticent aromas of underripe pineapple, white nectarine, crushed herbs and white pepper. Very ripe, supple and fine-grained, with the fruit and spice flavors conveying an impression of finesse. The 2013 grand crus were bottled this January, except for the Blanchots, which was bottled in September of '14 owing to the small size of the cuvée .

Magnum. Smoky nose and quite full and relatively soft for a youthful Grand Cru Chablis (presumably it's the vintage talking here). Relatively evolved with some lemon flavour. Long and pretty but not, I think, for the very long term. (JR)

40% barrel ferment but all the wines start fermentation in tank. A touch of smoky reduction just now. Intense and arrow-like in freshness with the edges softened by that creamy lees and oak influence. Intense more than elegant but bodes well for the future. (JH)
