Arguably the finest vineyard in Savigny. The fruit here is very pure indeed and there is a completeness and a depth that follows. This is from a blend of parcels throughout the vineyard. There is a distinct “block” of fruit here – a big wine. And an impressive one. Serious stuff. Jan 2015

The 2013 la Dominode from Hugues Pavelot had also not yet been filtered, but it was not quite as happy about being sampled as the superb Gravains. The bouquet is pure and youthfully complex, delivering a fine constellation of black cherries, sweet dark berries, bitter chocolate, violets, gamebird, dark soil nuances, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, young and chewy, with a fine core, lovely focus and grip, tangy acids and fine-grained tannins perking up the long and soil-driven finish.
(cropped at just 23 hectoliters per hectare): Bright, dark red. Black cherry, casssis and licorice on the nose. Juicy, spicy and very tightly wound; at once more concentrated and more tannic than the Guettes, with the dark fruit and spice flavors spreading out to saturate the palate. This densely packed, horizontal wine is clearly better balanced than the 2014 edition and should repay several years of cellaring.
