Mario Bollag's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino does a great job of presenting bold fruit flavors with bright cherry and redcurrant in pole position. The delivery is also of special note: The wine feels exceedingly smooth and silky on the close with fresh acidity and loads of berry freshness. It presents a very appealing style with streamlined intensity that is both bright and long lasting. Among the many Brunello wines on the market today, this one will appeal to those who appreciate a finer, more feminine expression.
Pale ruby with broad orange rim. Savoury, minerally nose that is a little closed on the fruit. Elegant, transparent palate, almost burgundian in style and with cherry and hints of dried fruit. Muscular tannins that never overwhelm the fruit. Distinct and original. (WS)
Wonderful aromas of ripe fruit such as plums and grilled meat. Then it shows a fresh soil and sliced mushroom. It’s full body, with super silky tannins and beautiful fruit. Balanced and spicy on the finish. A beauty. Drink or hold.
