Medium-deep garnet purple in color, the 2012 RWT Shiraz is going through a closed stage. The nose reveals youthful blackberries and wood aromas with some baking spices and Provence herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant, quite pretty and fine, then finishes clean.

From the middle to the north of Barossa Valley, mostly long-term contracts. All French oak, 16 months, 75% new and 25% one-year-old hogsheads. TA 6.9 g/l, pH 3.71. Dark purple, black pepper notes. Very substantial on the palate. Long and reverberant. Savoury and lovely spread across the palate. Very clean and brisk. (JR)
