In 2011 the La Villa, 60% Larigi Barbera and 40% Arborina Nebbiolo, shows the wisdom of blending these two wines. The 2011 has the aromatic lift and perfume of Nebbiolo and the plump fruit of Barbera, a combination that works beautifully in yielding a wine that is both approachable and structured.

Bright red-ruby. Black plum and currant on the nose. Then quite tight and dry in the mouth, showing less flesh than the 2010, with the wine's fruit currently suppressed. Today this very backward wine shows strong nebbiolo tannins.
