Punteggio 90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2011

Pale, bright yellow. Pear, peach, truffle and earth on the nose, complemented by an exotic whiff of mango. Broad and rich, making a sweeter impression than the Tillets. More fruity than minerally, and a bit less biting on the back end than the Tillets. But there's lovely sweet fruit and very good material here. I'd hold this for a couple years before pulling the cork.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2013, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2011

The 2009 Meursault En la Barre emerges from the glass with layers of expressive fruit. This is a striking, sensual wine endowed with lovely depth. An attractive element of crushed rocks and minerals adds length and energy.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2013, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Aug 2011

The 2009 Meursault En la Barre emerges from the glass with layers of expressive fruit. This is a striking, sensual wine endowed with lovely depth. An attractive element of crushed rocks and minerals adds length and energy. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. This is a fabulous set of wines from Antoine Jobard. The wines are distinguished for their sheer elegance and classiness. The harvest began on September 9. Jobard aged the wines in 15-20% new oak. The wines were bottled in April, with a light filtration on the last 10-15 liters of each barrel. Importer: Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524

Bold and herbal on the nose. Very sweet and rich on the palate. A good effort but just a little soft with something oddly metallic on the end. (JR)
