Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2016-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

This wine was tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chablis Grand Cru les Blanchots from Laroche has a light but delineated bouquet with flinty scents developing in the glass. The palate is crisp citrus fruit on the entry; there is quite piercing acidity leading to a linear, ginger infused finish. It just misses the personality that is demonstrated last year, but I would give this another year or two in bottle.

A wine of finesse and detail, the 2012 Chablis Les Blanchots is all about brightness. Lemon oil white flowers and white stone fruits abound in a lifted, precise Chablis built on sizzle and pure energy. Chalky, saline notes support the striking finish. About 40% of the Blanchots was done in oak.

(domain wine; from what Gregory Viennois described as a drastic selection): Pale yellow. Musky aromas of flint, ginger and wild herbs show a noble reduction. Plush on entry, then simultaneously sweet and bracing in the middle, with soil-driven flavors of citrus peel, white flowers and crushed stone framed by harmonious acidity (4.4 grams per liter). With its pronounced calcaire character, this essence of Chablis leaves the taste buds quivering.

Concentrated, beefy. Very fluid with lots of green juicy fruit. Racy in spite of the volume on the palate. Impressive! Should age very well. (JR)
