Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2024-2034, Eric Guido, Vinous, Aug 2024

The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino smolders from the glass with a darkly alluring bouquet of cedar shavings, crushed rocks, flowery underbrush, dried cherries and hints of camphor. It displays a gorgeous inner sweetness that only maturity can bring. It sweeps across the palate with ripe red and blue fruits, offset by a tinge of blood orange toward the close. Minerality comes through on the finish, tapering off long and staining while leaving a nuance of autumnal spice and sour citrus that lends fantastic freshness. The 2004 has matured beautifully over the past twenty years, maintaining remarkable purity. While drinking well today, I expect well-stored bottles to excel for another decade or more.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2018-2024, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Mar 2018

This vintage represents a turning point in this retrospective thanks to a more prominent role played by the fruit. The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino reveals an opaque dark color with garnet and crimson background colors. The bouquet shows intensity and a greater sense of purity with dried cherry, prune and dark plum. The wine shows an impressive level of inner poise and elegance, especially in terms of the long and silky mouthfeel.

Punteggio 91+/100 · Da bere 2016-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2015

The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is an attractive, mid-weight wine that captures the personality of the year. Tobacco, cedar, spice, underbrush, mint and dried herbs give the wine its nuanced, expressive personality. With time in the glass, the wine shows a bit more breadth and resonance. This is a beautifully rendered Brunello from Le Potazzine.

Moderately saturated medium red. Reticent but complex and soil-driven nose offers cherry, underbrush, herbs, earth and dried flowers. Supple, lush and accessible, with sneaky ripe acidity giving vinosity and sappiness to the rather gentle, sweet flavors. A rather broad and full 2004 Brunello, finishing with dusty tannins and good grip.
