Punteggio 90-91/100 · David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Oct 2008

About to be bottled when I tasted it, the Laroche 2006 Chablis Fourchaume Vieilles Vignes features yellow plum, lightly-toasted almond, and hyacinth. Billowing floral persistence and saline minerality characterize this all the way through to a succulently rich yet invigorating finish. It should hold up well for at least 4-6 years. The correspondingly fine and equally floral 2005 also displayed an alluring spicy dimension. Winemaker Denis de la Bourdonnaye and proprietor Michel Laroche – who export 85% of their wines, and were Burgundy’s pioneers (along with Verget) in utilizing screw cap closures – are dedicated to the proposition that Chablis can be seductive and sensual while remaining true to its terroir, and they have proven this in bottle with their outstanding 2005 and 2006 collections. Pale yellow-gold. Honey and flowers on the nose. In a very ripe but dry style, with enticing flavors of peach, honey and spices. Generous but not heavy; no shortage of personality here. Finishes broad and rich but youthfully austere and a bit aggressive, with a suggestion of almond and building length.
