Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2005-2010, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2005

The first white produced at Domaine Dugat-Py (it will be joined by another in 2004, as Dugat and some friends acquired the parcel of Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot in the Francemont sector that used to supply Maison Verget with fruit), the 2003 Meursault Vieilles Vignes, was lightly pressed for 7-8 hours, underwent a decantation off gross lees (debourbage), placed in 2 new oak barrels, and had its lees stirred 1-3 times a week for a year. Never acidified, it was only racked twice during its elevage, fined, cold stabilized at 5 degrees Celsius, and bottled unfiltered. Bernard Dugat’s son Loic, who has had internships with white winemakers, was principally responsible for this wine. Its rich aromas of toasty pears lead to a lush character filled with yellow fruits. Suave, fruit forward, and medium to full-bodied, it is a sensual, engaging Meursault for drinking over the next 5 years. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel.
