2000 Campoleone

One of the most spectacular wines made in Italy, this unfined/unfiltered, Merlot/Sangiovese blend (about 3,400 cases produced) boasts an extraordinary perfume of saddle leather, smoke, cassis, prunes, and plums. Rich, full-bodied, and voluptuously-textured, with layers of concentrated fruit, a magnificent seamlessness, and a huge, explosive finish, it should drink well for 10-15 years.
