Tasted blind, to be honest I thought we were in the Côte de Nuits when tasting the 2010 Volnay from Comte Armand. You are duped by the lushness and precocity on the nose: choke cherry and cranberry flanked by lavender scents that just burst from the glass. Medium-bodied and seductively smooth, there is still some oak to be fully subsumed on this Volnay that is sexy in style à la 2009. It is an impressive Volnay, stylish and exuberant, one that deserves two or three more years in bottle.

The 2010 Volnay comes across as delicate and perfumed in this vintage. Dark red fruit, crushed flowers and licorice come together as the wine finds its focus on the mid-palate and finish. Ideally the 2010 is best enjoyed over the next few years.
Light ruby. Smoky nose, lots of fruit and chew too. Very lively and fruity. Racy with no rough edges. Fine and confident. A fairly tough Volnay. Solid stuff! (JR)
(fermented with 20% whole clusters; 20% new oak): Medium red. Redcurrant, cherry and earth on the nose. Offers good depth and cut, and a bit more flesh than the Auxey-Duresses. Finishes with an attractive edge of minerality.
