Pale straw. A bit musty, sulphite-heavy on the nose. Damp wool. Not much pleasure. Medium to full-bodied and rather lacking freshness and precision. No obvious sign of Genevrières trademark herbiness. Still quite chewy. Stolid. (JR)

Bright pale yellow. Deep, oily aromas of stone fruits, oatmeal, nut butter and hazelnut. Silky on entry, then saline and densely packed, and more generous on the middle palate today than the Charmes. This very rich wine is chewy with extract and still a bit youthfully aggressive. Latour told me that this wine was hard and crisp after the bottling. Today it's minerally and soft citrussy, as chewy as a solid, with a distinctly saline quality, but still with an essential tenderness of texture. I'd love to come back to this one in five years.
Smoky grapefruit nose. Mouthwatering freshness and very good density without heaviness. One for acid lovers – but it is all in balance and has great persistence – just much too young. (JH)
