The 2008 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has developed nicely in bottle with pure wild honey, white peach and walnut aromas, conveying its terroir with more authority than its peers. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, a little fatness on the entry but then it segues into quite a spicy, complex second half with a light marine influence surfacing towards the finish. This is probably at its peak now and therefore ought to be drunk in its near future. Tasted at Sarah Marsh's 2008 White Burgundy tasting.

Relatively deep gold. Not that expressive on the nose; just very very slight suggestion of oxidation, or at least development. Pretty solid and dry on the end. Bone dry and a bit short of fruit. I suspect this would not be given a clean bill of health by Don Cornwell and his chums. (JR)
