The 2008 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières from Rémi Jobard has a mature, toffee apple scented bouquet that suggest that this will not improve further in bottle. The palate is ripe on the entry with tangerine and dried pineapple notes, just a touch of spice towards the finish, although it is now just missing a little tension to really convince. Drink this over the next three or four years. Tasted at Sarah Marsh's 2008 White Burgundy tasting.

Pale straw. Polished, refined nose with some development and real steeliness – more mineral than fruit. Very restrained yet beautifully balanced. If it were a pianist it might be Imogen Cooper. I like it! But definitely not flashy. (JR)
Pale yellow. Expressive, ripe aromas of orange, lemon, minerals and spices. In a distinctly creamy-sweet and pliant style, offering considerable appeal already. Very attractive and rich wine: this would make a terrific aperitif now but could also be held for five or six years. The alcohol here is close to 14%.
Light powdery nose. Then real richness on the palate. Very chewy and really lots to get your teeth into. Still quite embryonic and brutal. (JR)
