The 2009 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is maturing beautifully in bottle. Taut and fresh on the nose, you wouldn't hazard a guess that this was born in a relatively warm season. With fine mineralité , graceful with grilled almonds and hazelnuts. The palate is well-balanced, and the oak is seamlessly integrated with superb focus. This is a Meursault with a bit between its teeth. Maybe at its peak now, but it has the vitality to suggest a long future. Tasted at the Meursault dinner in Hong Kong.

(bottled in March): Pale color. Aromas of lime peel and crushed stone. Quite elegant and delicate for Genevrieres in this vintage, offering a light touch to its subtle, perfumed citrus, stone and floral flavors. Quite fine-grained. This is showy now but I would not be at all surprised if it shut down in bottle for a few years. It should age well, though.
The 2009 Meursault Genevrières wraps around the palate with layers of fruit. The 60 year-old vines add serious muscle and depth in this gorgeous, weighty Genevrières. A textured, expressive finish rounds things out in style.
