The 1990 Corton-Renardes is slightly more muscular and broader-shouldered than the 1990 Pommard-Les Perrieres. It, too, is forward and fat, with a big, spicy, mineral, and black-cherry-scented nose, and lusty, rich, alcoholic flavors that reveal no hard edges. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. I am an admirer of this domaine and wish I could have tasted several of their other cuvees, particularly the Beaune-Les Epenottes, Pommard-Les Grands Epenots, and Pommard-Les Rugiens. But those wines were already sold out. The two I did taste were typical of the vintage, meaning they had expansive, sweet, opulent textures and precocious, seductive appeal. Both were less tannic than most other 1990s from Pommard and Corton. Importer: William Grant and Sons, New York, NY.

Informazioni sul produttore

Domaine Michel Gaunoux is today run by Michel’s grandchildren, Anne and Alexandre, with a guiding hand from their mother. Everything here is extremely traditional, and the family has been quietly making rich, complex and age-worthy Pommard and Corton for over half a century.
