Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2020-2030, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2020

The 2003 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a totally different wine. It clearly carries the signatures of a torrid summer. The flavors are unabashedly ripe and tropical. Soft and curvy, the 2003 also has quite a bit more flesh than Coche fans are used to in young-ish Charlemagne. But you know what? The 2003 remains remarkably fresh and full of life. Those opulent signatures will accompany the 2003 for the rest of its life, and yet its balance is impeccable.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2018-2023, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

The 2003 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a baroque, gourmand white Burgundy, blossoming in the glass with aromas of peach, white chocolate, blanched almonds and toasted brioche. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and textural, with comparatively low acidity but a certain succulence and energy that—remarkably—Coche’s 2003s didn’t show a few years ago. This Corton-Charlemagne’s atypical richness and textural extravagance makes it especially interesting to pair with richer dishes.

Bright golden and with beautifully intense rich almond essence. Very winning and deeply throbbing fruit. Sweet finish. Tastes as though it has reached its apogee. None of the long termness and austerity of most other vintages. Just lovely now. (JR)
