Punteggio 93+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2014

Bright pale yellow. Aromas of smoke, white plum, acacia flower, nutmeg and salty minerality. Fat, dense and spicy, showing a distinctly saline quality and very good energy to its flavors of peach oil, white truffle and toast complicated by a leesy element. With extended time in the recorked bottle, this wine showed more adamant dusty minerality and musky ginger and quinine nuances, and my score went up. Clearly needs at least six or seven years to shows its inherent complexity, and I would not be surprised if it merited an even higher rating down the road.

Intense, mildly oaky citrus balanced by a gentle creamy layer. Leaner than I expected on the palate: tight, fresh and a long chalky, mineral finish. (JH)

Very hazy. Lovely perfume of pear, apple, spices and metallic minerality, complicated by a medicinal nuance. Juicy, spicy and light on its feet, offering a compelling combination of sweetness (especially for Corton-Charlemagne!) and lively gingery perfume. Surprisingly easy to taste today. Finishes very lively, polished and long, with lovely class. Not at all thick but not austere either. A beauty in the making.
