Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' horizontal, the The 2006 Phelan-Segur showed a little more oak on the nose compared to its peers, though it remains detailed with dried blood infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, saline in the mouth with moderate density, a gentle grip towards the graphite-tinged finish. Drink now and over the next 4-5 years. Tasted April 2016.
Tasted blind. Lots of evolution at the rim. Mellow with ripeness and freshness on the nose – rare so far in this 2006 St-Estèphe flight. Some mintiness. Racy and mellow. Very complete. Real interest. But very St-Estèphe too. (JR)
Very dark with some evolution. Soapy, high-toned almost floral nose. Quite painful acidity. Pretty mean really. I think this will always be austere. Ink. (JR)
