Note di degustazione
The 1994 Phélan Ségur has a rather musty and, again, Bretty nose. It is slightly minty in style and simple. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins. It's animally, with touches of meat juice that lend it an almost Rhône-like personality. But there is freshness here, and it is, in some ways, more attractive than the 2007 that I tasted alongside. Tasted at the château.

The 1994 reveals red and blackcurrants, oak, and toast in the nose. Although soft for a wine of this vintage, and lacking some of the mid-palate intensity possessed by the 1993, it is well made, dense, and medium-bodied. Despite light tannin in the finish, this wine should drink well young, and keep for 7-8 years.
Interesting floral aromas, especially violets, and a hint of fruit. Medium-bodied, with ripe fruit flavors and ultrafine tannins. Delicate finish. Better in 1999. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1997
