Punteggio 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2011

Pale yellow. Fresh nectarine and peach aromas sexed up by hazelnut. Dry but stuffed with ripe peach and citrus flavors. Classically styled Meursault, with a dry, brisk finish. Drink the basic village wine now and give this a few years in the cellar.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2013, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2011

The 2009 Meursault Clos des Ambres opens with a blast of fruit, then turns more delicate and understated in the glass. This is an impeccable wine with no hard edges, lovely mid-palate juiciness and tons of style. Crushed rocks, spices and smoke linger on the finish.

The 2009 Meursault Clos des Ambres opens with a blast of fruit, then turns more delicate and understated in the glass. This is an impeccable wine with no hard edges, lovely mid-palate juiciness and tons of style. Crushed rocks, spices and smoke linger on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. Arnaud Ente began picking very early, on September 1st. The 2009s spent approximately one year in oak, followed by six months in steel. New oak was around 25%. The 2009s were bottled in March 2010 with no fining or filtration.. I tasted the 2010s from oak. Both vintages are very strong. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. Very rich start and then the structure comes bounding out the glass like an architectural drawing. So to speak. Lemony and round. But actually, I think I prefer the freshness of the village wine! (JR)
