The 2001 Barbera d’Alba Gallina, a full, dark ruby, is very spicy, with cloves and cedar intermingled with the plum and blackberry fruit. Very warm and generous on the palate (14.5?), its sweet fruit and luscious texture are kept fresh by the acidity and the mineral notes of the close. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2009.
