Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2010-2016, David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Oct 2010

White peach, almond, and piquant hickory nut on the nose of the Billaud-Simon 2008 Chablis Montee de Tonnerre usher in a sleek palate with both luscious primary fruit presence and piquant accents of smoke and peach kernel. This really wears its sense of extract on its sleeve, and displays an alternation of citrus and concentrated minerality in its finish that puts me in mind of Riesling. Focused and handsomely lean as well as penetratingly long, it should be worth savoring for at least the next 5-6 years. Bernard Billaud agreed this year to show me his young grand crus in advance of their anticipated May or June bottling, even though they were on their finings. In addition, I was able to have my first taste of his 2007 grand crus. Imported by Langdon Shiverick, Los Angeles, CA; tel. (213) 483-5900

Reticent aromas and flavors of lemon ice, crushed stone and minerals. Tightly coiled, brisk and classic, with distinctly saline soil tones from start to finish. Very light on its feet. The crushed stone character gives the aftertaste a dusty quality and terrific verve. This very subtle premier cru needs five or six years of cellaring.
