This is a mainstream, medium-bodied, pleasantly concentrated, charming, evolved Pauillac. Composty, earthy notes intermixed with cedar wood, black currants and cherries jump from the glass of this fragrant, supple-textured wine. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
Mid-crimson. Strange nose. Thick, sweet, heavy tannins. Quite heavily oaked – as though some of it is not French oak. Quite harsh, sickly finish. (JR)
Deep crimson. Something sweet and almost sickly – certainly floral – on the nose. Fearsome acidity and a definite greenness. This seems like a good attempt at a rescue job for underripe fruit. Short. Hollow. In its context, sister property Reysson, a mere Haut Médoc, trumps it. (JR)

The 40 hectares of this Pauillac Fifth Growth are spread across three sites, pieced together in the 18th century by Pierre Ducasse. Today owned by France’s Crédit Agricole bank, they have some very fine vineyard land, with their northernmost plot neighbouring Mouton and Lafite.
