Deep crimson. Solid, chewy, non-manipulated wine. Lots of quite aggressive tannins. Almost edible rather than drinkable! (JR)
A fleshy dark ruby-colored wine, with sweet black currant, tobacco, and cedary notes, this nicely-textured wine has well-integrated wood, supple tannins, and an attractive, relatively lush finish. It is not especially concentrated or profound, but it is mainstream and appealing. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2013.
Plenty of black licorice and berry character in this red. Full- to medium-bodied, with fine tannins, but slightly hollow midpalate. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2001.
