Punteggio 89-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2005

Saturated red-ruby. Aromas of cassis, black cherry, mineral and flowers. Quite primary and a bit youthfully tough and angular, with little early sweetness. A distinctly muscular wine, best today on the long finish, where the black fruit flavors outlast the serious tannins. I may be underestimating this.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2019-2023, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Normally I have a slight preference for the elegance and refinement of the Faiveley Latricières compared to the power and animale character of the Mazis but not in 2003 as the latter is actually a bit more elegant and refined. The Latricières is rich, full and expressive with superb depth of extract but not the same degree of freshness and precision and the usual mineral component is presently absent. That said, the sheer complexity here is impressive and I suspect this will come together as it's not showing its usual superb level of quality. Drink: 2013+ 90-93 Points
