2007 Latricieres Chambertin

Medium red. Redcurrant, rust, smoke, tobacco and earth on the nose. Supple and fleshy, with good sweetness to the flavors of plum, smoke and truffle. The best of these 2007s to this point in terms of breadth and freshness. Here the dusty tannins are nicely supported by fruit.

Good bright red. Vibrant aromas of cherry, minerals, spices, earth and nutty oak. Broad, suave and spicy, offering enticing purity of flavor and verve. A distinct note of cinnamon. Finishes with dusty, fine-grained tannins and lovely vibrant lift. In this cool microclimate, the vines were harvested very late in 2007, on September 14.

Dark red fruits and spice, just a touch of liquorice. Savoury spice overlays the red sweet fruit. Not especially powerful at first but builds in the mouth to a long, sustained, spicy finish. (JH)
