(bottled in March) Ripe apricot aroma. Round and sweet, with very ripe flavors of apricot, orange and nutty oak. Finishes with good length and reasonable alcohol. Less exotic than it appeared to be a year ago from barrel.

The hazelnut cream-scented 2003 Meursault (white), produced from the Domaine’s youngest vines, is light to medium-bodied, deep, and sensual. This seamless effort reveals a citrus cream, spice, nut, and floral character that lingers in its extended finish. Drink it over the next 5 years. Nuanced nose combines candied lemon peel, orange zest and vanillin oak. Sweet and fat but with life in the mouth; enticing flavors of lemon and orange candy reminded me of a late-harvest wine from Alsace Quite thick for this village offering. Finishes dusty and tactile, with a slightly edgy licorice note.
