Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The 2011 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur from Moreau-Naudet has good intensity on the nose with scents of dried honey, beeswax, chalk dust and walnut, retaining Chablis character through and through. The palate is balanced and poised on the entry with a keening line of acidity, gentle at first, but building in the mouth to a very composed and yet relatively rich and generous, spicy finish (à la les Preuses). This is a top-class Valmur.

Big and sleek. Masses of concentration. Yet quite racy too. Well done! Some persistence. (JR)
An extremely fresh and ripe nose that is just ripe enough to evidence a hint of the exotic along with soft wood notes. There is a textured and almost soft mouth feel to the middle weight flavors that tighten up on the intense, minerally, powerful and solidly persistent finish. This is not exactly classic in character as it's a bit too forward at present though my score and predicted drinking window offer the benefit of the doubt. Tasted: Oct 15, 2013. Drink: 2017+
