Note di degustazione
The estate's 1999 Lupicaia emerges from the glass with the essence of roasted coffee beans, grilled herbs and dark fruit. This is a beautifully balanced Lupicaia blessed with knock-out aromatics, layered fruit, and a rich, powerful personality. The 1999 remains a powerful, structured Lupicaia that could use another few years in bottle to fill out its large-scaled frame.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Piero liked this one particularly. Very dark crimson, perhaps the deepest of the lot. 'Super-ripe Bordeaux' was my strongest impression. Lots of minerals, as though gravelly almost... Very sweet start with a hint of meat extract. Perhaps not as refined as some – much riper than most. Montalcino heat but Bordeaux nose. Interesting. Velvety with a hint of lilies and exotically aromatic flowers but with quite dry tannins and heat on the finish. (JR)
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot Very mellow ruby. Lively, round, rich, fully evolved with only a hint of rusty nails on the finish. Easy Italian claret. A blend of velvet, dust and fine red fruits. (JR)
