Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2026-2034, Eric Guido, Vinous, Feb 2026

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is darkly floral, slowly unwinding with nuances of worn leather, dusty earth, old cedar spice box and dried strawberries. It is graceful and elegant in style, with a solid core of mineral-enhanced red berry fruit that slowly saturates, balanced by vibrant acidity. Still gently tannic, the 2006 leaves a hint of blood orange and a saline resonance as rosy inner florals slowly fade. Classic to the core.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2021-2032, Eric Guido, Vinous, Jan 2022

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino lifts up with a glorious display of black cherries and plum sauce contrasted by fall leaves, moist soil and crushed ashen stone. This is soft and fleshy in feel but with the acidity to balance, as perfumed red berries give way to burnt orange and mineral tones. It tapers off long with a flourish of sour citrus and rosy inner florals. The 2006 is just entering its drinking window today, still a bit grippy and with many years of positive evolution in store.

Bright medium red. Old school aromas of strawberry, menthol and earth, with a high-toned floral element building with air. Juicy, silky and light on its feet, with the subtle strawberry flavors displaying a light sweetness. Very easygoing sangiovese; does not have great stuffing or concentration but offers lovely finesse. Finishes with silky tannins and no rough edges.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautifully centered, poised Brunello with lovely focus in its bright red fruit. This shows terrific persistence and fine balance all the way through to the finish, where hints of anise, flowers and mint add the final dash of complexity and nuance.
