Poured at a retrospective tasting going back to 1999 held in NYC. Aged 48 months. Pale bricky-red but oh-so fragrant – roses, cherries, dried herbs and flowers, with an earthy richness, like dried porcini. Acidity fantastic; tannins still have real grip, but the wine has mellowed to a satin-velvet nap. Could be happy just drinking in the fragrance. (TQT)

The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino is a model of total finesse and elegance. Seamless in the glass, the 2005 has developed beautifully since it was first released a few years back. Black cherry, plum, spice, menthol and licorice meld together in an effortless Brunello that is a pure pleasure to taste today.
