The 1999 Meursault Les Rougeots is a vintage that I have not encountered since 2003. I loved it then - I love it now. It shows less reduction than the 2006 on the nose: citrus lemon, custard creams, grilled walnut and orange peel all contributing to its complexity. The palate is beautifully balanced with a killer line of acidity, notes of walnut and sesame infusing the citrus fruit with a very intense, detailed finish that is a joy to behold. It is a brilliant wine and will last a few years yet. tasted at La Paulée in Beaune.

Deep gold. Charming with green notes and some vegetation. Fully evolved with a light beery note. Really well advanced but with lots of vegy notes and quite a bit of power. Lots of vibration on the finish. Perrières 1999 is still much tighter apparently. Chewy. (JR)
