Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2018-2030, Neal Martin, May 2019

The 2002 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru offers ripe cranberry, boysenberry, orange rind and sandalwood on the nose - quite complex vis-à-vis its peers and demonstrating impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This feels cohesive with both weight and girth (more so than the Chandon des Briaille’s), though perhaps you could argue it does not deliver quite the same precision on the finish. Nevertheless, this is thoroughly enjoyable. Tasted at Sarah Marsh MW’s 2002 Red Burgundy tasting.

Pale ruby. Pretty intense nose. More savoury quality than many Cortons. Lots of fine tannin on the end. Made for the long term. Still with lots of life ahead of this vigorous wine. Just a little dry on the end. (JR)

(Nathalie Tollot loves this vintage and compares it to 2014): Medium red. Sexy balsamic aromas of very ripe strawberry and sweet truffley underbrush, plus a hint of caramel oak. Wonderfully silky wine with good framing acidity energizing its flavors of strawberry, cocoa powder and oak char. Finishes with a suggestion of black cherry and good peppery, herbal grip. Still youthful on the end: there's no rush to drink this wine.

The 2002 Corton-Bressandes, generally my favorite red produced by the Tollots, is from a parcel located on the eastern flank of the Corton hillside. Its intense cherry scents lead to a lush, light to medium-bodied personality that offers ample, broad layers of red cherries. This extremely well-balanced wine also possesses good structure as well as a long, fruit-packed finish. Projected maturity: 2007-2015.
