Good dark red. Superripe, liqueur-like aroma combines crushed berries, game and chocolate, plus a whiff of cough medicine. Fat, sweet and lush but lacking the high notes of the best examples of this vineyard. This was sappy and extremely promising when I tasted it a year ago before the bottling, but today the wine's acids and tannins are in opposition and the finish seems a bit spiky. A very awkward showing.
Good dark red with ruby highlights. Sexy, complex aromas of raspberry, minerals and faded rose, lifted by an exhilarating whiff of grapefruit. Lush, concentrated and sweet, but with noteworthy vinosity and sappiness to the tangy red berry flavors. The slow-mounting finish is positively electric, saturating the mouth with perfume. A great showing, and more vibrant than some examples from this vineyard in 2007.
