Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2034, Neal Martin, Jun 2020

The 2010 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a fresh, taut and quite backward bouquet with wonderful tension and mineralité . There is an airiness here that I like, though it never feels ephemeral. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity; perhaps it does not quite deliver on the promise of the nose, but I appreciate the subtle tropical notes of mango and clementine toward the finish. It is here that I wanted to see more terroir expression, though perhaps that will develop with time. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2010 white burgundy tasting in London.

Pale straw gold. Cheesy nose. Lots of texture on the palate though a little less polished and refreshing than I would have liked. Sort of serviceable rather than ethereal. Solid and with lots of refreshing acidity. Some depth but not much charm at the moment. (JR)

(14% alcohol): Very pure aromas of lemon peel, flowers and nutty, vanillin oak. At once juicy and supple, with terrific energy to leaven the wine's atypical richness. Very tactile, mouthfilling grand cru from a yield of just 30 hectoliters per hectare. Finishes stony and sweet, with outstanding breadth and length. Should age gracefully.
