Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

This wine was tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos is showing some oak on the nose, with touches of white flower and mint infusing the citrus fruit that needs to develop a touch more harmony. The palate is fresh and nicely balanced on the entry, with lemongrass tincturing the citrus fruit and more fatness in the mouth compared to Benoît Droin's Les Clos, with a long if slightly obvious finish.

The 2012 Chablis Les Clos is magnificent. Texture and pure silkiness are two of the signatures in this gorgeous Chablis. Sweet floral and spice notes meld into dried pears, sage, almond and mint, all shaped by the partial vinification in oak. In 2012, the Clos is a wine of total harmony and class. This is a gorgeous Chablis that captures both the essence of site as well as all of the Moreau hallmarks of richness.

(bottled in January of this year): Bright yellow. Captivating high-pitched aromas of white stone fruit, minerals and flowers. Dense and sappy on the palate, displaying terrific ripeness and concentration to its flavors of white peach, lemon, white flowers, ginger and crushed stone. Still a bit hardened by CO2 but this extremely long Clos is a knockout in the making.

Just a teensy bit of sulphidic matchstick character on the nose, then bumptious, forthright green fruit and lovely creamy texture. Pretty tight in terms of flavour range though. (RH)
