Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2015-2020, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

The 1982 Tignanello is a mature and evolved wine that gives a good sense of the wine’s aging trajectory. This is a backwards looking wine with a bouquet that gives its best right now but that is unlikely to see any further evolution in the future. The bouquet offers tones of cured meat, savory spice, tar, old leather and dried fruit or prune. The acidity is still very much intact and this is what gives the wine its current staying power and tonic appeal. Silky tannins characterize the smooth finish.

Concentrated ripe raspberry and chocolatey flavors characterize this wine, which has the firm tannins and plump structure to demand threer or four years before it's what it should be. WineSpectator.com

Very pale brick colour going brown. The nose is fading a little with notes of dried fig, forest floor and a little gamey / meatiness. The faintest remnants of silky tannins remain on the palate supporting some dried fruit and tea leave flavours. Medium to high acidity still provides some freshness, though this wine has topped its pinnacle and is on its way back down the mountain. Long earthy finish. Tasted November 2008.
