The 2011 Monthelie Côte de Beaune is noticeably deep in color. The nose is intense with raspberry coulis and cassis scents enveloped in vanilla oak that suggests you are broaching this prematurely. The palate is well balanced with nicely judged acidity. There is certainly good structure here for a Monthelie, although it tapers somewhat toward the finish and leaves you wanting more. It's like a film that has a stupendous opening and then settles for just being "good."
