The 2009 Haut Bages Libéral feels disjointed on the nose with quite punchy graphite aromas coming through, though it needs more cohesion. The palate is medium-bodied with a chewy entry, more red fruit than black, let down by a rather monotone finish. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.

Tasted blind. Warm tea on the nose. Sweet start and then a bit tough and dry and chewy. Not enough fruit weight in the middle. (JR)
Bright crimson. Very opulent nose but with silkiness too and sufficient freshness. Not that dense but nicely balanced and well judged. (JR)
Low-key nose. Quite evolved with round, flattering fruit though no obvious sweetness nor alcohol. Drying finish. (JR)
